Our Cucumber Gin Cooler Recipe

If you weren't already aware, our bar stocks more than 400 gins from around the world. In fact, our Oxfordshire hotel was first into the Guinness Book of World Records™ for serving such a large number of gin varieties. Now that is an achievement!

The name gin is a shortened form of the older English word genever (the French say genièvre and the Dutch jenever). Whatever the language used, all those words derive from juniperus, the Latin for juniper - a key ingredient in this delightful spirit. While many gins vary in flavour and profile nowadays, it's safe to say that our Cucumber Gin Cooler is popular due to its classic taste, which you can follow the recipe for below.

To recreate our Cucumber Gin Cooler you will need:

  • - 50 ml gin Tanqueray Rangpur
  • - 4-6 slices cucumber
  • - 1/4 medium lime (sliced)
  • - 100ml tonic water
  • - 6 mint leaves
  • - 25ml sugar (optional)

It's all in the making...

  1. 1. Add mint, lime, gin, and sugar (if using) to shaker and muddle.
  2. 2. Add cucumber slices to shaker and shake vigorously.
  3. 3. Pour mixture over a glass filled with ice and top with tonic water.
  4. 4. Stir, let sit for a few minutes for the flavours to enhance and enjoy.
