Bastille Day celebrations at The Feathers got off to a fine start with fair weather, blue, white and red bunting adorning the hotels 16th centaury facade and courtyard garden. A tricolour hung above the arch, under which were delicious French produce, market style, with bread, cheese, fresh vegetables wine and a selection of cured meats to try. Also underneath the arch, Accordion player Dave Townsend delighted guests and passersby with live renditions of classic French folk music whilst Petanque was played on the gravel pitch.
Staff serving the special menu, created by head chef Marc Hardiman which included such classics as bouillabaisse, crepes and French cheese, were dressed in felt berets and silk cravats. Some liked the new look so much they asked if it could be a permanent change! We would like to thank everyone who came and helped make the event such fun, even though we had to occasionally run for cover from the very English weather. Don’t forget to put the 14th July in your diary and join us next year for more French fun....
